Who we are

We are Emma and Jen, founders and directors of HOP.

We run HOP sessions with muddy knees and big smiles, loving every moment of the children’s wonder and excitement – all while making sure they feel supported, heard and ready to explore.

We have qualifications and experience in teaching, forest school, keeping allotments and outdoor, paediatric and mental health first aid.

This is Helen, also a HOP director. Like us, she feels there’s something special about being outdoors and connecting with nature.

Her therapeutic horticulture training has deepened her belief in the way nature can nurture, heal and bring people together.

We all believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy being in nature, that’s why we base our work just outside the classroom door on the school grounds during school hours.

HOP began as an enrichment project at Ladysmith Junior School in March 2023 to address concerns for the rise in mental health issues among primary school children.

HOP continues to work at Ladysmith Junior School and in 2024 expanded to work with Bowhill Primary School.

In May 2024, HOP incorporated as a Community Interest Company.
