Impact
We are continually inspired by the positive effects of nature connection for children.

HOP’s impact has been incredibly beneficial; children report feeling happier, they have grown in confidence and have learnt about the natural world around them.

Some children are putting on wellies for the first time, many have never used a spade and lots are learning what leeks are.
HOP has had a ripple effect. It has motivated children to go home and build bug hotels, make jewellery from nature and play in their gardens instead of asking for more screen time. They are realising that being in nature is making them feel good, they are learning to care for the world around them and inspiring their families and communities to do the same.

HOP helps people understand how important nature can be for your human body
It got rid of my anger
It made me feel good about myself
Being in nature helps you find a quiet place to be calm and relaxed
It’s made me feel more confident
It’s helped me emotionally
I built a bug hotel and it made my body feel good
I feel full of nature
Our nature connection surveys revealed that children felt more attached to living things, had increased knowledge of how to look after the environment and felt happy and peaceful outdoors.
Parents and carers notice their children:
Showing a strong sense of belonging and purpose
Less resistant and less anxious about going to school
More regulated, grounded and calmer
Feeling buoyant, energised, inspired, invigorated and excited
Comparably less fatigued and emotional than usual
Connecting with nature at home
Happier and lighter in themselves
Appreciating nature more

Teachers say:
HOP has built resilience in the children and they show more confidence, independence and perseverance
They return to class calm, focussed, alert and ready to concentrate
Those who find the classroom environment difficult have thrived in HOP
Children return to the classroom all bubbly and buzzing
